Open Doors

Just last week during a brief morning devotional the Lord led me to a passage in Revelations 4:1-2. At first it puzzled me as to it’s application to my life at that moment. It was not until a few days later during the Sunday sermon that its purpose was revealed to me like the pieces of a puzzle fitting together.

The passage reads as follows:

After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.

I believe the Lord is inviting us to an "open door" experience with Him during this season. But this is something we need to choose to accept. Acceptance means choosing to let go of the menial things of this world and to instead enter into a higher level and awareness of His presence.

The door is open in heaven and those who desire to encounter God will experience the privilege that comes with transitioning to an elevated level of relationship and fellowship with God that transcends and far exceeds choosing to remain at a lower or base level of faith.

God desires for us to be moving from Glory to Glory. What does that look like? It’s the ability to move beyond the base things of this world such as carnality, immediate gratification, trivial pursuits, superficial facades and materialism to enter into a higher spiritual awareness where we get to experience a greater measure of God’s presence and Glory.

God’s Glory can never manifest in the absence of His presence. In Acts 2 when Pentecost came upon the 120 disciples where were they? In the “upper room” waiting upon God’s presence which was revealed through the tangible manifestations of His Spirit. When Jacob was being promoted to becoming the nation of Israel he dreamt of an open heaven and the angels of God ascending and descending a ladder signifying the tangible connection he had to God’s presence on earth.

God is calling us to “come up” and away from the lower and base things of this world into His presence. His Kingdom is higher than the kingdoms of this world. His thoughts are higher, His ways are higher.

He’s opened a door for you and He’s inviting you to experience this today. Don’t get stuck where you are. Dare to accept God’s invitation. He wants to reveal Himself to you; to experience things your eyes have not seen, your ears have not heard and your mind has not been able to comprehend before.

God has opened up the doors of heaven. Are you going to answer the invitation and walk through? If you do, I promise you will never want to leave.
